The Foreign Affairs Ministry held on Monday, in its headquarters, a ceremony celebrating the 58th anniversary of the National Independence Day.
During this ceremony, chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabri Boukadoum, the national flag were raised, a wreath was laid in front of the commemorative stele and the fatiha ( first chapter of the holy Koran) was read in memory of the martyrs.
In a speech, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdelaziz Benali-Chérif, paid a vibrant tribute to the martyrs of the national liberation war and the recently disappeared mujahideen and those who are still alive.
He, also, welcomed the restitution of the remains of 24 leaders of the Popular Resistance against the French colonization and their burial on July 5 in the land for which they fought and sacrificed.
In addition, a conference on the history of French colonization in Algeria (1830-1962), its sources and roots, as well as on the suffering of the Algerian people and the crimes perpetrated against it by the colonial forces during this period, was chaired by the advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, in charge of archives and memory, Abdelmadjid Chikhi.
