Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad participated in the videoconference meeting of the Contact Group on Libya on Tuesday as a representative of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said a press release from the Prime Minister’s office.
This contact group was established in accordance with the decisions taken at the 33rd Summit of the African Union and on the recommendation of the Peace and Security Council of the Organization. It aims to “promote the coordination of international efforts to achieve a lasting solution to the Libyan crisis through inclusive dialogue,” added the same source.
Mr. Djerad reiterated, during this meeting, “the constant position of Algeria” calling on all Libyan actors to “the need for dialogue and national reconciliation as the only alternative to preserve unity, Libya’s security and stability, thereby removing the specter of division, violence and fratricidal struggles. ”
He also expressed “Algeria’s will to continue to deploy all diplomatic efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement of the Libyan crisis”.
